First 3-Michelin-star Thai restaurant, Sorn in Bangkok, hails ‘dream beyond imagination’
2025 Michelin Guide Thailand elevates Sorn to 3 stars, Côte by Mauro Colagreco to 2 stars and gives 5 restaurants their first Michelin star
Sorn in Bangkok has been crowned the world’s first three-Michelin-star Thai restaurant, as well as becoming Thailand’s first restaurant to earn that accolade.
The award for the restaurant in the Thai capital’s Sukhumvit district, which serves southern Thai cuisine, was announced in Bangkok on November 28 at the unveiling of the 2025 Michelin Guide Thailand.
Sorn chef Supaksorn “Ice” Jongsiri was overcome with emotion as he took to the stage to receive the accolade.
“There are many things that I am thankful for. People that I love, people who made today possible … they’re all here in Thailand,” he said. “So, I’m thankful that Thailand is my home.”
From the stage Supaksorn thanked his team who he said had stuck by him down the years and given him their “blood, sweat and tears”.
