There is plenty happening on the food and drink front as Hong Kong gears up for the festive period.
As well as the usual restaurant and bar promotions and openings, there is a unique coffee farm experience, a pop-up dedicated to small Hong Kong food brands, and a new patisserie kiosk in the heart of the city.
1. HK Coffee Origin Tour
Hong Kong food and agriculture brand Locofarms and Village Life Zine have organised a unique coffee tour in Lai Chi Wo, a Hakka village in the northeastern New Territories, on 24 November from 11am to 1pm.

Participants will learn more about the area there dedicated to environmentally friendly farming and coffee production, from cultivation to processing, and try three different styles of Hong Kong-grown coffee paired with local snacks.

2. Kellett Island Grocery
More than 20 Hong Kong lifestyle brands have been curated for a new grocery pop-up at Hysan Place in Causeway Bay.
Kellett Island Grocery – named for the little-known piece of land that is home to the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club – features goods produced by a mix of small and medium-sized companies.

They include Kowloon Flour Mills – which has been around since 1964 – and contemporary players such as craft soda company Mezzanine Makers and Aberdeen Toffee.
Some brands have collaborated to create exclusive products for the store. Snake restaurant Ser Wong Fun and Chinese snacks maker Chan Yee Jai have teamed up to make salt-and-pepper snake with shrimp roe crispy peanuts.
Also on offer is branded tableware by Red A, the plastics manufacturer behind Hong Kong’s famous wet market red lampshades.

3. Japanese cheesecake galore

Cafe The Sun Lives Here, from Tokyo’s hip Sangenjaya district, has opened its first overseas branch at K11 Musea in Tsim Sha Tsui.
It offers cheesecake in many forms – from its bestselling three-layer cheesecakes to cheesecake cookie sandwiches made with dairy products from Hokkaido.

Another popular Tokyo brand, Mr Cheesecake, will set up shop at Pacific Place from November 29 to February 28, 2025.
It is possible to pre-order special items for Christmas – including praline pistachio, milk tea, or original flavour cheesecake in limited-edition packaging – from 20 November.

4. Plumcot

The French bakery in Hong Kong’s Tai Hang neighbourhood is serving a selection of its artisanal pastries and ice creams at a kiosk overlooking the Landmark Atrium in Central.
While opening times are slightly later at weekends (11am), it opens at 8am on weekdays, making it an ideal place to pick up a breakfast pastry before work. The pop-up will be open until March 2025.

5. Akatsuki Izakaya

From November 22 to 30, hospitality group Lai Sun Dining will celebrate the opening of its latest Japanese concept, Akatsuki Izakaya, with a series of promotions.
These include 20 per cent off kushikatsu and kushiyaki (fried and grilled skewers) and 50 per cent off the free-flow drinks package.
The restaurant also serves a lunch bento set from HK$258.
