Born and raised in Hong Kong, I grew up in a fusion food culture. I deeply appreciate local Chinese food, and also love a variety of Western, Japanese and Korean cuisine.
But cha chaan teng restaurants are among my favourites. They offer a wide range of dishes that perfectly embody Hong Kong’s blend of East-meets-West styles.
As a fan of both French and Japanese cuisines, I’m delighted by Arbor (25/F, H Queen’s, 80 Queen’s Road Central. Tel: 3185 8388) for fine dining.

The dining room’s signature pink decor creates a unique ambience, making it a great spot for a memorable dinner. Their minimalist menu also adds an element of surprise.
As a wine enthusiast, I like to create my own fantastic wine dinners. Ciu Wui Gun (Shop B, 62-64 Fuk Lo Tsun Road, Kowloon City. Tel: 3705 1398) is a BYO (bring your own wine) restaurant that offers authentic Chiu Chow cuisine like marinated raw crab and shrimp, pig’s blood curd, oyster omelette and marinated goose dishes with soy sauce.
