13 Asian bars, 2 in Hong Kong, on 2024 World’s 50 Best Bars longlist ranked from 51-100

Three Singapore bars, two each in Hong Kong and Tokyo one in Guangzhou among bars ranked 51-100 in 2024 by World’s 50 Best Bars

The longlist of bars ranked 51-100 by the World’s 50 Best Bars in 2024 has been announced ahead of an awards ceremony later this month in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Two Hong Kong bars, The Savory Project in Central and the Four Seasons Hong Kong hotel’s Argo are placed 82nd and 58th respectively. It is the first time that the former has ranked on the extended list. The two cocktail venues were ranked 19th and 9th respectively on the Asia’s 50 Best Bars list.

The top five bars on the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best list – Bar Leone (Hong Kong), Zest (Seoul), Jigger & Pony (Singapore), Coa (Hong Kong) and Bar Benfiddich (Tokyo) – are not on the longlist, indicating they may be among the World’s 50 Best to be announced on October 22.

Three Singapore bars make the longlist, two of them new entries: Cat Bite Club is ranked 56th, while Nighthawk, which received the World’s 50 Best award for best bar design in 2o23, ranks 74th.

They are among 12 new entries on the longlist. Notable among these is Smoke & Bitters in Hiriketiya, which is 29th on the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best Bars list and is the first bar from Sri Lanka to make the World’s 50 Best longlist.

In all, 13 Asian bars feature on the longlist, including Hope & Sesame in Guangzhou, China.
