The dessert, called byakuya, has set a Guinness World Record because of its eye-watering price tag.
Made by Japanese ice-cream brand Cellato, the dessert includes white truffle, which is sourced from Alba in Italy and costs around US$14,500 per kg, according to a blog post by Guinness World Records.
Other ingredients include Parmigiano Reggiano (a type of cheese), edible gold leaf and sake lees (a paste-like cooking ingredient), according to Cellato’s website.
According to the Guinness World Records blog post, Cellato wanted to include both European and Japanese ingredients in the ice cream, so it turned to a chef known for fusion cuisine for help.
