With its bright curry rice logo, Tengachaya is an easy place to spot – and it’s easy to figure out what the restaurant’s speciality is. The interior is clean and cosy, decorated with Japanese lanterns hanging from the ceiling.

There are plenty of options for diners to tailor their curry rice, ranging from the standard pork cutlet curry rice to the cheesy baked fried chicken curry rice.

But the menu is not limited to curry rice; they also have udon bowls with different soup bases and various toppings of meat, seafood and vegetables (prices range from HK$60 to HK$64).

Another option, rice bowls, are served with either grilled pork or grilled chicken. All main dishes can be upgraded to include a Japanese soft boiled egg, snacks and drinks, which costs an extra HK$2 to HK$27.

We loved their roasted pork udon noodles in broth with pollack roe creamy soup (HK$60). The roasted pork was tender and delicious, and the pollack roe creamy soup added a mild, sweet taste and went well with the bouncy texture of the udon.
