‘There are no limits,’ Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome, Puerto Rican Sofia Jirau, says as Love Cloud Collection launches
- Sofia Jirau of Puerto Rico is the first model with Down’s syndrome to appear for the lingerie brand – one of 18 women chosen to show its Love Cloud Collection
- The 24-year-old, who’s modelled at New York Fashion Week and for People and Vogue Mexico, thanks Victoria’s Secret for seeing her as a model ‘without limits’
Sofia Jirau announced a “big secret” on social media: she has become a new type of angel – the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down’s syndrome. The Puerto Rican shared a black and white photo of herself in a Victoria’s Secret bra.
Jirau joins 17 others women modelling the lingerie company’s new Love Cloud Collection. On Instagram the 24-year-old thanked Victoria’s Secret for seeing her as a model “without limits”.
“One day I dreamed of it, I worked on it and today it is a dream come true. I can finally tell you my big secret,” Jirau wrote on Instagram in Spanish. “I am the first Victoria’s Secret model with Down syndrome!”
The Love Cloud Collection marks the first campaign under the company’s new creative director, Raúl Martinez, who joined in January.
It also comes months after Victoria’s Secret said goodbye to its signature “Angels” and rebranded with seven women, including actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas and LGBTQ model and activist Valentina Sampaio, the first transgender model to be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
