Bestselling American horror novelist Grady Hendrix, known for the spooky Horrorstör and How to Sell a Haunted House, is also an expert on Hong Kong films. He co-founded the New York Asian Film Festival and co-authored These Fists Break Bricks, which details the history of kung fu films in America.

Hendrix, whose new novel Witchcraft for Wayward Girls is published in January 2025, told the Post that his long-standing love of Hong Kong horror films has influenced his writing, as they break the rules of the genre and go where the story takes them.
