Marilyn Manson to play first Hong Kong gig in March 2020
- Tickets to the debut show by the controversial rocker go on sale on December 13
Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson will perform his first concert in Hong Kong on March 18 next year.
In the two decades since the titular band was formed by the singer born Brian Warner, Marilyn Manson has served as a lightning rod for controversy, coming under fire for his anti-religious sentiment and frequent references to sex, drugs and violence in his lyrics.
Religious groups have frequently protested outside Marilyn Manson concerts, claiming his performances are offensive and obscene.
Manson and members of his band created their stage monikers by taking the first names of female sex symbols and the surnames of serial killers – other members of the original band included Twiggy Ramirez and Daisy Berkowitz.
In the US, three of Manson’s albums have achieved platinum status - including Antichrist Superstar (1996) and Mechanical Animals (1998) and three others have gone gold. His most recent album is Heaven Upside Down (2017).
