Susan Sarandon to be honoured at Hong Kong dinner
Oscar-winning actress will discuss her career in cinema during three-day celebration of the power of creativity, part of Art Basel
Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon will receive an award next week at a Hong Kong gala dinner for her outstanding contribution to cinema.
Sarandon will be taking part in a three-day celebration of the power of art and creativity as part of Art Basel Hong Kong.
Cultural entrepreneur Pablo Ganguli’s Liberatum company and Hong Kong’s Swire Properties are co-presenting the three-day programme, Liberatum Artistry, during the art fair, which marks the start of Hong Kong’s spring art season.
Sarandon, 68, will be presented with the Liberatum Cultural Honour at an invitation-only dinner at the Upper House, in Admiralty, on March 13. The actress also will give a talk about her career at the Swire Properties Lounge at Art Basel on March 14.
Running from March 13-15, Liberatum Artistry is a multi-disciplinary programme whose highlights include the world premiere of Artistry and Technology, Ganguli and artist Tomas Auksas’ exploration of the increasingly strong relationship between technology and creativity, which features Sarandon along with Oscar-winning film director turned winemaker Francis Ford Coppola, architect Frank Gehry, artist David Hockney and others.
Artistry and Technology will have its first screening during the opening reception at the Swire Properties Lounge at Art Basel on March 13. The 10-minute work will be shown at selected times in the Swire Properties Lounge, and from March 30 will be available on various online platforms, including youtube.com/liberatum.
