Fans of pop art can feast their eyes – and make a bid for – a selection of iconic Andy Warhol's paintings and photographs at Christie's inaugural Private Sales Warhol exhibition, which opens on Wednesday.
Held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, Wan Chai, the exhibition and will run until November 27. It features thirty-seven pieces including signature Warhol images of Chairman Mao, cows, and film stars by the American artist. This private exhibition will consist of paintings, drawings, photographs and prints.
The private sales event has been organised ahead of a public exhition of Warhol's work opening at the Hong Kong Museum of Art from 16 December 2012 - 31 March 2013.
Andy Warhol (1928-1987) is an American artist who is regarded as an iconic figure in the pop art movement, is most best known for his Campbell's Soup Cans images. The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and Christie's jointly announced in September that the foundation had engaged the fine art auction house for future sales of Warhol's work from its collection.
