Just like poetry, choreographer Kirsten Ho Sien-ying's latest offering is peppered with contemplative pauses. comprises six vignettes, each beginning with a line of text.

"They are some feelings and thoughts I had over the past few years, when I was making moments of pauses. I want to put them together in a literary form, like six short stories in a book," says the 28-year-old, founder of Dance Kho, a contemporary dance company. This is their first production in Hong Kong.

A Eurasian born in Scotland and raised in Hong Kong, Ho has always loved the robust energy in this city. Last year, she decided to set up a company here to promote contemporary dance, especially among students, through education.

"It's a place full of energy and always changing, like the movements in contemporary dances - when you finish one movement, you can choose so many different ways and directions for the next one, as long as it feels right," says Ho, who was trained at the London Studio Centre and The Ailey School in New York.

When Ho creates her work, she likes to work "from within" and explore feelings and inner thoughts, rather than focusing on techniques.
