Hongkonger and Singaporean land ‘world’s coolest job’

Andy Lau from Hong Kong and Danielle Lin from Singapore, both 24, are the winners of Honestbee’s “World’s Coolest Job” campaign, by getting the highest number of likes (1,916 and 338 respectively) for their video applications and impressing the panel of judges with their enthusiasm.

“I have always been someone who’s very eager to try new things,” says Lau, a former policeman. “The comfort zone stops you from realising your true potential. Two things motivate me more than anything – working hard and being brave. This competition is the perfect opportunity to do both of those things.”

Honestbee spokesman Nicholas Lim says the total number of applicants was “substantial” and that they came from countries around the world including Singapore, Hong Kong, Bulgaria, the US, Canada and Africa. Lin, according to her Instagram profile, was the 4th runner up of Miss Universe Singapore 2014.

Lau found out about the campaign from a local newspaper app and had to take part. When he received the email informing that he was a winner, “I was in shock and super excited. I never would have thought that I would get it, but I did,” he says.

”I definitely felt the pressure as there were other equally creative and quality individuals in the competition. But I was also confident in myself and tried my best without worrying too much what the final outcome would be.”
