Entrepreneur Ricky Wong Wai-kay was left shocked and more than 300 of his employees were left jobless after his Hong Kong Television Network was denied a free-to-air television licence. While PCCW and i-Cable were granted licences to compete with TVB and ATV, Wong could at least draw some solace from the level of public support, with hundreds of thousands of people "liking" a Facebook page supporting him and with thousands planning to protest today.

 

Nanjing mayor Ji Jianye became the latest mainland official to fall foul of a corruption inquiry, being investigated for suspected "economic crimes" and fired. Ji was said to have been implicated in the investigation of Zhu Xingliang, a businessman.
