In December last year, 81-year-old Beijing activist Wang Xiuying submitted an access to information request to the Ministry of Finance, asking how much China gave North Korea in aid in 2011 and 2012.

On January 25 she received the reply (above) that her request could not be fulfilled as "the information in question involves state secrets".

Wang was sentenced to a year of re-education through labour in 2008 for protesting her eviction with firecrackers and banners.
