The alma maters of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Baidu co-founder Robin Li are among the universities outside the US that have churned out the most ultra-wealthy alumni, according to a study by Altrata.

Peking University, with an estimated 1,101 ultra-high net worth (UHNW) former students, placed eighth in the index that tracked individuals with at least US$30 million to their name. Tsinghua University has produced an estimated 1,100 super-rich alumni, ranking ninth in the list compiled by the data company that focuses on the wealthy and influential.
Both Peking University and Tsinghua University are public learning institutions based in Beijing.
Li, who is worth an estimated US$7.7 billion and is China’s 45th wealthiest person according to Forbes, received his bachelor’s degree in information science from Peking University.
The 53-year-old founded the technology giant Baidu, effectively China’s Google, at the turn of the millennium. It is listed on both the Nasdaq and the Hong Kong stock exchange.
Besides Xi, Tsinghua University, was where billionaires Jiang Bin, co-founder of Chinese acoustic components company GoerTek, and Sun Hongbin, founder and chairman of developer Sunac, China’s fourth-largest property company by sales last year, got their master’s degrees from.
