Cambodian lakes vanish under wave of development in capital
Phnom Penh’s lakes are vanishing thanks to high demand for land in the Cambodian capital. Since 1997, 15 of the 25 largest lakes have been filled, and it’s proving bad for livelihoods and ultimately bad for the city’s drainage.
