Apisalome Movono is a senior lecturer in development studies at Massey University in New Zealand, where he teaches sustainable development, and conducts research on Pacific peoples, tourism, systems thinking, and focuses on how the sustainable development goals can be realised.

There has been opposition to a US$300 million mega-project proposed by Chinese developers due to its proximity to one of the few remaining mangrove forests near the Fijian capital of Suva.
