The new Jaguar XKR-S is the marque's fastest and most powerful production car, and the coupe version has just arrived in Hong Kong. The model seems ideal for cross-border highway runs, comfortable inside, and should impress the city's rich at bonus time.
Selling for HK$2.368 million and powered by a five-litre supercharged V8 engine, the XKR-S was launched in March at the Geneva Motor Show. Built on a lightweight aluminium platform, the 550-horsepowered coupe can deliver 680Nm of torque via a six-speed automatic transmission to reach 100km/h in 4.4 seconds and up to 300km/h on 20-inch alloys wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres.
Jaguar has also fitted the 1,753kg fastie with 'substantially revised' suspension, springs, dampers and stability electronics to ensure the model's 'composure and traction' at such speeds.
On combined town and country runs the model consumes 12.3 litres of petrol per 100km on a 74-litre tank and emits 292 grams of carbon dioxide per kilometre. The 4.794-metre-long, 1.312m-high 1.892m-wide coupe has a 2.752m wheelbase and a turning radius of 10.9m.
The coupe also sounds sportier, thanks to Jaguar's new chrome-tipped 'Performance active exhaust', the marque says.
The XKR-S's body has a new front and rear side intakes and carbon-fibre splitter, a 10cm lower ride height and LED daytime running lights.
