Villagers and a concern group fighting to stop a bridge being built in Kap Lung in Tai Lam Country Park set up a pressure group to battle the fung shui compensation system.

The League of Rural-Government Collusion Monitoring will complain to the Audit Commission after it meets legislators on Thursday.

'The fung shui compensation system involves public money being abused. The Audit Commission has a responsibility to investigate,' said Eddie Tse Sai-kit, who set up the group.

The latest move was triggered by reports in the Sunday Morning Post following complaints from villagers against a so-called fung shui bridge.

Village chief Tsang Hin-keung requested the widening of an existing footbridge into one that could take vehicles in compensation for what he says is disruption to fung shui caused by tunnelling for the Guangzhou-Hong Kong express rail link a kilometre away.

Land searches show Tsang has bought 13 land lots under his company since 2007. Villagers fear Tsang will use the bridge to transport materials to build either a columbarium or housing, and will force them out.
