The finals were held on New Year's Eve at Tsing Yi Sports Centre. LKT previously won the boys' championship three times in a row from 2005 to 2007.

Last year, their winning streak was halted by Diocesan Boys' School (DBS) who won the final. This time, the LKT boys fought back to get their revenge and knocked DBS out in the semi-finals, greatly boosting their confidence.

Their high morale helped them score a victory over CSW Catholic Secondary School (CCS) in the final. LKT won the first set 25-17. In the second set, CCS initially led by 5 points.

But LKT showed their determination by going on a 9-0 run to take the set 25-19. They claimed their victory against CCS in the third set, 25-19, winning the year-end crown once again. Team captain Wu Ming-fung, 18, won the Most Valuable Player award.

'This is the best present to end 2009,' Ming-fung said. 'The victory and the titles belong to everyone in the team. Many experienced, good players graduated last year. We've gone through a tough time to get here.'
