Ambience As you begin your descent into the basement restaurant, you feel as though you're being transported into the emperors' tombs. It is a journey back in time, with stone statues of Buddhas (somehow reminiscent of the Terracotta Warriors) guiding your way. Hallways leading into the restaurant area make you feel as though you are walking through Beijing's old hutongs. The architecture is so clever and detailed in recreating the old streets that it's worth taking a quick peek even if you don't stop for a meal. And, while you're in there, peer out the windows and figure out whether you're actually looking at the streets below.

Cost About HK$500 per person, including a signature cocktail.

Turn-ons Out of this world best describes the food and atmosphere. It's somewhere you go to wow an out-of-town guest with a sensory feast. The specials, such as the sirloin steak with capsicum strips wrapped in pancakes, are a delight, as is the traditional hot and sour soup, perhaps one of the best in town. The prawn toast served with fish fillets from the specials menu is a treat not to be missed. Most of the food is a bit spicy, so for those who like to give their taste buds a workout, this is the place to go.

Turn-offs The stairs into the dimly lit restaurant are steep and dangerous, so be very careful as you go down. The bar area, while different, is a bit cramped and hot, not really ideal for hanging out too long.

Drinks A special range of cocktails, such as Bo Ba (Chu Yep Ching Chiew, triple sec, sugar syrup and grapefruit juice), and a good wine selection.
