Sothys was originally a beauty institute in Paris founded by a medical biologist in 1946. After it was taken over by the Mas family in 1966, the brand established a laboratory whose scientists and biologists work with universities to create and test skincare innovations and ingredients. It became a professional luxury line after the brand entered the US under the direction of aesthetician Christian Garces. Used in beauty salons and spas in more than 90 countries, Sothys now runs an institute in Paris attended by aestheticians from around the world.

The brand takes its name from the Greek myth of Sothys, whose beauty captivated Saturn.

Sothys believes that even the best ingredients and delivery systems are not effective if the skin isn't properly cleansed and prepared. So the brand emphasises a thorough and gentle daily cleansing routine that enhances the effectiveness of the salon treatments.
