Fare The high tea buffet (3.30pm-6pm) has the requisite cucumber sandwiches and scones with homemade jam and clotted cream, but also a patisserie paradise, a savoury heaven, and a sweet sensation, with a staggering array of delectable delights from the unusual egg custard and salmon roe to crackly macaroons, crabmeat sandwiches, freshly made waffles and generous helpings of heavenly cakes.
Ambience It's posh on the mezzanine level, with fantastic views and high ceilings, but the comfy lounge chairs and relaxed dress code make you feel like you're having tea at a friend's.
Cost HK$218 for adults and HK$109 for children.
Who to bring Get dressed in your Sunday best and drag your girlfriend along for a fantastic feast and a chin-wag.
Turn-ons Of all the many temptations on offer, special mention must go to the salmon sandwiches, rolled and presented like Japanese-style California rolls; the chocolate almond ginger tart (bite-sized, beautifully rich and nestled in a perfect pastry cup); and the Bavarian cassis cake - 'freshly made, a beautiful combination of cream and cassis, heavenly, creamy and not overly sweet'. The mango mousse cake was light with bright bursts of fruity flavour, and the homemade ice cream (vanilla, chocolate or strawberry) was creamy. Everything is ultra-fresh and the food never seems to run out.
Turn-offs It's a buffet but the customers were more or less well behaved.
