Happy Hour patrons from SoHo to Lan Kwai Fong were treated to a guerilla fashion show on Thursday evening, thanks to a new Hong Kong-based label. Designer Jane Record put her line of Chocolate Martini dresses on 10 girls and took them to 10 bars, causing heads to turn and traffic to slow as they headed from Staunton Street down Shelley Street, across Wyndham Street, and down to Lan Kwai Fong. Along the couture crawl, they hopped on bar tops, sipped cocktails and struck many a pose.

'Basically we took Chocolate Martini to the streets,' Record said.

'We are using the streets of Hong Kong as a catwalk. We got a lot of support from the bars, and the camaraderie from them was amazing. One place even made chocolate martinis for us.'

The English-born former barrister came to Hong Kong with her husband and decided to pursue her own clothing line. It has an outlet in Australia but none here, so the guerilla show's goal was to spread the word and the look.

'Chocolate Martini has been going on for a year and a half. It's very theatrical, fun, individual and eclectic. As for the name, it's simple: I'm a complete chocoholic and I love martinis too,' she said. If you missed the show, you can view her clothes at www.chocolatem.com, or check out her showroom every Wednesday in the Yu Yuet Lai Building, Suite 306, 43-55 Wyndham Street.
