Forget Marley And Me. The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and a group of City University communication students are organising a photo competition as part of their efforts to dignify the image of the local mongrel tong gau. The pictures should focus on 'mongrels and include Hong Kong traditional elements or collective memories'. The winning images may even have a chance to be adopted by furnishings and lifestyle store G.O.D. in its product design.
Furthermore, the SPCA wants to promote its image and raise its profile for fund-raising. This campaign will culminate with a stage show and prize-presenting ceremony at the university campus on March 6, with members of the Mongrel Club of Hong Kong bringing their pooches to share doggie tips and do training demonstrations.
Speaking of the canine cause, this Sunday is also the first Peak Galleria Market by Open Air, and organiser Tarlan Amigh emphasises that this fair is dog-friendly. Four-legged friends on leashes are welcome at any of The Peak markets, which will take place on the first Sunday of each month. They run from 10am to 5pm on level 3 of the Galleria building.
