Swire Properties, one of the city's largest office landlords, has launched a free energy audit programme for its tenants. A tenant at Somerset House in Taikoo Place, the first to take the audit, was shown ways to cut energy use by up to 40 per cent a year. Swire's Cary Chan Wing-hong said tenants were keen to be audited to prepare for the implementation of building energy codes. The company aims to cover all of its office blocks, about 450, in five or six years.
