For weeks, Tony Leung Chiu-wai and Carina Lau Ka-ling have been keeping the paparazzi at bay by staying hush about the date and location of their nuptials. Rumours abounded that the decade-long-dating couple will marry somewhere such as Thailand or Bali.

But this week, the entertainment press is confirming the pair will tie the knot in the unlikely Buddhist Himalayan nation of Bhutan. It has been widely reported that the date will be July 21, and the two stars will fly about 80 guests, setting their accounts back to the tune of HK$3 million.

One of the main reasons suggested for the ceremony's unusual location is that Bhutan is restrictive about its visas and travel conditions, so this should keep out some of the more rabid celebrity hounds trailing the actors.

According to local media, Lau - in keeping with the non-material nature of the country - is telling friends and relatives that, in lieu of gifts, they should instead donate the wedding present money to charities.
