According to Tom Banwell, associate director at Judd Farris Property Recruitment, the growing number of development projects in China is forcing Hong Kong-based developers, the largest employers of property professionals in Hong Kong, to devise initiatives that will attract Hong Kong talent to take up positions in the mainland.

The main initiatives are higher salaries and positions.

'The simple fact is that human resources is the No1 headache for the majority of our clients in Hong Kong and China, whether this is from the point of attracting staff or retaining present workforces,' Mr Banwell said.

'The increasing volume of overseas institutional money flowing into the region means there is greater demand than ever for talent.'

There is a growing need for people across different stages of a development project - from site identification to project management to sales and marketing functions. This is a result of the continuing increase in activity of Hong Kong developers on the mainland.
