A mainland travel agent appeared in court yesterday accused of abandoning three mentally retarded children on the city's streets.
Two-way permit holder Wu Boqing, 48, from Shanwei in eastern Guangdong province, faced three counts of child abuse.
Wu is alleged to have brought the boys to Hong Kong and abandoned them.
He left one in a playground in Flower Market Road in Mong Kok in May and the other two, aged five and 14, in the car park at Lung Cheung Mall in Wong Tai Sin last month, Kwun Tong Court heard.
Wu also faces a charge of helping a mainland woman remain illegally in Hong Kong after her entry permit expired in December.
No pleas were taken yesterday, as the prosecution revealed a witness who claimed to have seen Wu with two of the boys agreed to take part in an identification parade.
Wu was arrested at Lo Wu on Wednesday.
