Police yesterday searched for clues into the death of a man who allegedly tried to kill his mother by poisoning her before apparently poisoning himself at their Tuen Mun home.
The case came to light just after 10pm on Friday when his mother, 78, surnamed Chan, woke up and found her son unconscious in his room in their flat in Block No1 at Po Tin Estate.
She immediately went downstairs and alerted the building security guard, who reported the case to the police.
Her son, 49, surnamed Fung, was pronounced dead at the scene by medics.
Police said a forensic pathologist's initial examination found that the man had died at about 8pm and had no superficial injuries.
It was suspected that he had died from drug poisoning.
The mother, a diabetic requiring medication, felt unwell and was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital.
