Research-orientated programme. Students work under the supervision of a professor on a topic and take a minimum of two courses recognised by the graduate panel, substitutable by special studies. The MPhil programme requires at least 24 units together with a written thesis for graduation. The PhD programme requires at least 36 units together with a written thesis for graduation. Requirements MPhil programme applicants should normally possess a BSc degree, and the PhD programme applicants a master's degree in an appropriate related field from a recognised university. Cost HK$42,100 per annum (full time). Aid Most admitted students will be offered a graduate assistantship by the Graduate Division of Environmental Science amounting to HK$13,400 per month. Designed to provide students with an understanding and appreciation of issues and skills in environmental management, the course examines environmental policies, strategies and management systems, with a focus on the recognition and development of sustainable environmental management in both urban and non-urban environments. Students may also undertake some study of specific environmental problems, research methods, geographical information systems and environmental economics, philosophy or politics, and may include a research project in their degree. The course is global in scope, but case study material will draw especially on the experience of Australia and other Asia-Pacific nations. Requirements The equivalent of an Australian bachelor's degree with 2nd class honours or better (four years of study) undertaken in the field of study you intend to pursue in your proposed master's programme. Lesser qualifications are unlikely to be accepted without some qualifying studies or relevant work experience. Cost A$15,400 or HK$93,609. Aid Tuition fees are exempt from GST.
