An elderly woman jumped to her death from her flat yesterday after slightly injuring her husband in a fit of temper.
The 80-year-old, who police identified only as Wang, was declared dead on the podium of Mei Chung Court public housing estate near Sha Tin.
Minutes before her leap Wang and her husband, surnamed Leung, were having lunch at home in Shing Chung House when she 'suddenly lost her temper and threw dishes and bowls towards him', police said. Mr Leung ran out of the flat with injuries to his forehead, lips and ears, and went downstairs.
He bumped into a neighbour and told him what had happened. The neighbour called the police at 12.50pm.
Not long after the neighbour's report was made, Mr Leung's wife was seen jumping from their flat.
Police said they did not yet know the reason for the couple's fight, but Mr Leung had only told them that 'she just lost her temper suddenly'.
