A young hip hop designer is hoping to use the power of art to help heal the rift between China and Japan.
Japanese-American fashion designer Kenshin Ichikawa is to launch the Japan-Hong Kong Society of Modern Arts this year - a one-man project aimed at using art to erase wartime scars passed from one generation to the next.
With the assistance of the local Japanese consulate, the 27-year-old will launch a series of events, including T-shirt-designing competitions, art exhibitions and cultural exchange seminars.
'The issue of Japan and China hangs over our heads every day. The scars of the older generation are passed on to the younger generation. All they think about is the war.
'But we can't really understand what the older people are talking about,' he said.
'I want to create a dialogue between the young people of China and Japan. I want to close the gap between Japan and China.
'This divide does not need to be passed on to the next generation.'
