The company's NCS-670W wireless pan-and-tilt internet camera provides an economical and practical solution for surveillance requirements.

The stand-alone device comes with an 802.11g standard wireless local area network connection. It also supports a number of communications protocols, including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Universal Plug and Play home networking, Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for automatic assignment of IP addresses, Address Resolution Protocol, and the low-level User Datagram Protocol.

The internet camera comes with a ADMtek5120 chip, 16 megabytes of random access memory, 4MB flash memory and the Linux operating system. Since TCP/IP and other internet-related protocols are supported, the camera can be operated from a PC using Windows 98, SE, ME, 2000 or XP.

The NCS-670W links directly to networks via a 10Base-T Ethernet or 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet connection. It offers full Web-based control of security, management and configuration functions. For example, users can record streaming video to their hard drive, enable motion detection and set up automated e-mail alerts for security.

With its built-in Web server software, the camera allows remote access from any web browser to view live pictures, and monitor people and property. Its MPEG4-format full-motion video is transmitted at 30 frames per second.

Users first need to configure the network settings. Current time is set for system management purposes. Once a valid IP address of the camera is obtained, users can connect the camera to view video. Its built-in microphone provides audio reception.
