Leading photographer Marcus Oleniuk is developing a unique social history of the impact of Sars - and he wants your help.

Local people are invited to attend his studio, have their picture taken and then scrawl on the photograph in their native language comments or feelings they have about life under Sars.

'The idea is to show Sars' effect on Hong Kong,' said Oleniuk. 'The rest of the world may see Hong Kong as some sort of apocalypse zone, but the truth is the city is just full of people quietly and bravely getting on with their lives. This is what I want to show.'

Oleniuk has already exhibited several Sars subject photographs in magazines around the world (see some on French newspaper Le Monde's glossy website www.lemonde2.presse.fr). 'But now I want to expand the project to involve as many people as possible,' he said.
Anyone interested can e-mail Oleniuk at [email protected]. Participants are not required to give their names or jobs or any personal information. 'It's random and anonymous - as a city should be,' he says.
