Epopack creates contemporary,eco-friendly cosmetics packaging

Looking good is synonymous with doing good for Epopack, a cosmetics packaging manufacturer with a passion for developing stylish yet earth-friendly options. Epopack's efforts are in line with the mainland's 12th five-year plan, which encourages green packaging for consumer goods. Coupled with the government's focus on importing superior packaging equipment and materials, the mainland's packaging industry is forecast to grow annually by 6 per cent until 2015.

Epopack is growing alongside this trend with innovations driven by the hands-on experience of founder and general manager Patrick Pan. Volunteer work at a recycling plant enabled Pan to better understand the difficulties of recycling plastic.

"Many companies in the packaging industry use acrylic, which takes thousands of years to decompose," Pan says. "This is not earth-friendly, and that's why we've made packaging that can be recycled."

Epopack's latest innovation is its heavy wall jar made from post-consumer recycled polyethylene terephthalate (PET), which is fashionable and 100 per cent recyclable. The company uses PET to make its containers clear and highly chemical-resistant - ideal for a wide range of cosmetic products. Lightweight and unbreakable, Epopack's PET and polypropylene containers are also safer and easier to transport.

"We work very hard to find a balance between beautiful and recyclable," says sales representative Amy Pan. "With our products, you can take social responsibility for your brand, building an image that is not only beautiful, but also takes care of the earth."

As it continues its recycling and environmental advocacy, Epopack seeks partners that share its concern for the planet and confidence in its products. Epopack welcomes companies able to assist its clients with imports into the mainland via a well-established network. It looks forward to meeting potential partners next month at booth 5C-L3C at the Cosmoprof trade show in Hong Kong.
