The Roger Dubuis display at Watches&Wonders is set to impress. A crowned eagle clutching a key, and an image evoking the Poinçon de Genève - the brand's hallmark - will be the centrepiece that welcomes guests. The decorative piece is inspired by codes of chivalry and is easily recognisable, as all Roger Dubuis watches bear the Poinçon de Genève stamp of certification, also known as the Geneva Seal. About 24,000 watches out of the 30 million produced each year in Switzerland receive the stamp, and Roger Dubuis is the only manufacture to get its entire production certified. The brand had the same eagle-and-key display at the 2013 Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) to pay tribute to that honour.
Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Roger Dubuis, says the Hong Kong event would enhance communication and promote co-operation. Describing the event as a "platform for culture and learning," Pontroué says it is a fine opportunity for Roger Dubuis to expand its clientele and continue to increase the brand's visibility in Asia.
He says: "As is the case with our participation in other important trade events on various continents, this geographical proximity will symbolise our wish to effectively serve and remain close to the customers and retailers who help to propagate and nurture the global reputation of our manufacture."
At Watches&Wonders, the brand will display its latest collection, highlighted by the Excalibur Quatuor in pink gold. Stemming from seven years of research and development, and inspired by the manufacture's 2005 invention of the Double Flying Tourbillon, this model comprises four sprung balances generating a frequency of 16Hz, compensating for gravity-induced variations.
"We constantly need to amaze collectors with the introduction of groundbreaking technical innovations, and the Excalibur Quatuor is the best example of this quest to date," Pontroué says.
The RD101 movement housed in the novelty features a distinctive mechanism based on twin crescents and provides a more precise display of the power reserve. The skeleton-worked calibre is airy and light, while the pink gold case is adorned with a fluted bezel, crown guard and a triple-horn strap attachment.
