Lotus Indah spins local yarn into world-class commodity

From carpet makers in Turkey to fire hose and technical users in the United States, Indonesia's yarns are making their way into the factories of the world's top manufacturers, thanks to Lotus Indah Textile Industries.

Exporting most of its products, Lotus Indah transforms locally sourced materials into embroidery, ring-spun and open-end yarns, dyeing/finishing fabrics and multifold yarns in bulk packages up to nine kilograms for industrial use. All products are developed in-house, heavily customised according to clients' diverse requirements including the most stringent country-specific regulations.

"No matter which industry or country, we make sure that our customers improve their profitability through our products," says president and director Pradeep Sainani. "A lot of time, research and development and close working relationships are involved, but we know that once we produce what our clients' want, the partnership lasts forever."

The company has stayed on top of its craft since it was founded 25 years ago in East Java by keeping abreast of market demands and investing in modern equipment. Its ISO 9001:2000 certification testifies to the quality of its manufacturing process, while its ISO 14001:2004 certification reflects its environment-friendly practices.

Growing at about 20 per cent year-on-year, the company is optimistic that Asia's increasing awareness and preference for high-quality industrial yarns and fabrics will further broaden its global presence. It plans to increase its annual capacity to 36,000 tonnes from 24,000 tonnes within the next two years, reflecting its bright outlook of the region's economic growth.

"My goal is to raise Lotus Indah's annual turnover to US$200 million in the next five years," Sainani says. "The target is sustainable growth founded on our loyal employees, whose lives we aim to improve alongside the company's advancement."
