With the 15th anniversary of the handover next Sunday, it's time to put on your patriotic hat. Eco-chic lifestyle store Tree has designed some rugs that reflect local life, from the city's transport system and skyline to the flag, with one rug inspired by the bauhinia flower and recreated into a bold red and white graphic that will add a contemporary splash to any room. The rugs (HK$5,950) are 100 per cent wool. Tree, shop 311 The Arcade, Cyberport, tel: 2997 8522

A sense of scale

An interactive and fun lesson in Hong Kong's history comes with the Cityscape Hong Kong Time puzzle (HK$399.90). The 3-D puzzle comes with scale model buildings of the city's skyline spanning the early 20th century to the present day. Children can discover and learn about different neighbourhoods as they construct the skyline on the puzzle base.
