HMD Global -- the company that now produces Nokia phones -- is sticking with the notch trend for its latest phone, the X5.

Announced on Twitter by the company’s chief product officer Juho Sarvikas, the X5 looks quite similar to the phone that started the notch trend -- the iPhone X -- albeit with a sizeable bezel at the bottom of the device.

Spec wise, the phone is a pretty standard midrange unit -- comparable to Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 or the Oppo A3.

It’s powered by Qualcomm competitor MediaTek’s Helio P60 processor, announced at the Mobile World Congress this year.

But like so many other phones that have jumped on the notch bandwagon, the notch doesn’t house a 3D facial recognition system… meaning consumers will have to resort to using the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner to unlock the device.

Design wise, the X5 has glass on both sides and the images we’ve seen so far indicate it is available in black, white and blue.
